Overview
Menomonie Municipal is a Transport/Corporate classification airport owned by the City of Menomonie. It is located on the city's east edge and is integral to the industrial park. Its east-west runway is 5,100 feet by 75 feet and the north-south runway is 3,470 feet by 75 feet with a full-length parallel taxiway on the east-west runway; both are hard surfaced. Airport elevation is 895 feet MSL. The left pattern altitude for all aircraft is 1,900 feet MSL. Runways 09/27 and 18/36 have pilot-controlled Medium Intensity Runway Lights (MIRL) on 122.7. Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) lights and Runway End Identifier Lights (REIL) for 09/27 are also available. Runway 09/27 has Low-Intensity Runway Lights (LIRL), on from dusk to dawn. The beacon and wind sock are also lighted from dusk to dawn. The wind sock and wind "T" are located midfield on the north side of 09/27. Instrument VOR and GPS approaches are available to runways 09 and 27. A terminal building provides shelter, restrooms, a meeting room, a flight planning room, and a pilot ready room. Entry during off hours is coded, via the CTF. An airport courtesy car to food, lodging, and other facilities is available.
The Airport was established with money, time, and in-kind contributions from a group of local individuals and organizations. During its initial stages (1984 to 1988), the airport was owned by the non-profit corporation Menomonie Airport, Inc. Menomonie Airport, Inc. dissolved in 1988 after selling the Airport to the City of Menomonie for $1.
Gibson Aviation, located at the Airport, is a full-service aeronautical company. The company provides Self-serve or attended 100 LL aviation gasoline and jet A fuel; flight instruction; inspection, maintenance, and repair; service and sales; and operations management of the airport.
Menomonie Municipal Airport is frequently used by corporations including Andersen Windows, Cardinal Glass, ICM (Ethanol Plant), Fagen (Ethanol Plant), 3M, ConAgra Foods, Phillips Plastics, Wal-Mart, and Menards. Other traffic includes the Air National Guard and the Governor's Office.
